V Rising Review
Survival games with unchallenging combat systems aside, V Rising gives us both the epitome of multiplayer survival and the pinnacle of action.
- Well-polished for an early access game.
- Lots of variety in strategy and mechanics.
- Very fun to play with friends.
- Graphics.
- Minor technical issues.
- Optimization problems on the map.
V Rising is a multiplayer survival game set in a gothic-style open world, combining exploration, building, action and combat. As a vampire waking up from centuries of slumber, your main goal is to take revenge and try to dominate the world again. If this story piqued your interest, you can also read V Rising Story for more details on the plot.
If you are wondering what makes this game so special, which has managed to attract all eyes by reaching approximately 50 thousand simultaneous players with its early access, we are here to resolve the mystery. In this review, we'll take a look at what makes V Rising the most ambitious survival game of recent times, and what it lacks. To summarize the game in one sentence before we start, most players describe V Rising as "Valheim, if Valheim was a gothic girl".

Gameplay and Mechanics
World of V Rising
In the open world full of mystical creatures and dangers, you will wander through forests, mountains, hills, dungeons and encounter many different beings, both friend and foe. You can form a pack with other vampires or choose to wander alone. From raiding bandits and stealing their goods to fighting in kingdoms filled with magical beasts, V Rising has everything that makes you feel adrenaline to the fullest.
I want to emphasize again that we are vampires because all game mechanics are based on that. For example, if you step out into the light during the day, you instantly become ashes. That's why you need to hide in the shadows during the day, control your appetite and plan your strategy for the night, and do everything in your power to survive as a relentless fighter at night. Being a good fighter is not enough to survive in the game though. You need to control your resources well, improve your abilities, protect your loot and allies and even know how and where to build different structures from safe coffins to huge castles to protect them.
V Rising Multiplayer / Co-Op Mechanics
The basic logic of the game can be summarized as compete or cooperate. You can act diplomatically and form alliances with other vampires and think that peace is the way to survive. On the other hand, at night, you can raid other vampires' castles, strengthen your defences and win by battle. The choice is yours.
Game Mechanics
In the game, you have to use WASD keys and cursor-based aiming systems a lot. One of the best parts is that you can switch to whatever you want from different skill groups like close combat, ranged attacks or dark magic. In short, you are free to choose your own playstyle and strategy, as long as you survive.
Graphics
The graphics of the game are extremely striking and dark. Towns and landscapes inspired by Italy, combined with the creepy atmosphere of being a vampire, it is just stunning. Aside from the well-made gameplay, it is also very enjoyable to navigate the map and visually explore the world of V Rising. The character design and details in the costumes also got full points from us.
Developers
Although the game is in early access, Stunlock is making a great effort to keep the margin for error to a minimum. The creators of the game are very active on the forums and it is clear that they take the feedback into account. Therefore, it is possible to foresee that the game will only get better from here on out. We can also say that they bring together the popular aspects of different survival and action games. While the atmosphere of the game is reminiscent of Valheim, the combat mechanics are very similar to Battlerite's popular mechanics.
Single Player Mode
You can also play the game in single player mode, but it is very clear that V Rising was not created for this mode. While playing alone, you can easily get bored of cutting trees and attacking aimlessly for hours. When you play with your friends or in the online lobby, you have much more to do and have more fun.
Map Size
We cannot say that the map is small. But there are some problems in design and optimization. For example, as you go to the north of the map, your enemies get stronger, so it is quite normal to choose to stay in the south, that is, on the forest side, at the beginning of the game. But this is also a limited area, and when everyone in the lobby stays in the forest with the same logic, you realize that the map capacity is not enough. You can either turn a blind eye and build your castle in a more dangerous but wider area a little further north, or you can build a castle on top of each other in the south with forty people in the lobby. The choice is up to you. However, the area on the map could be managed better. Different maps or settlement possibilities may be offered in future updates.
Bugs and all
We cannot finish reviewing V Rising without mentioning the bugs that appear in nearly every early access game. Of course, there are minor bugs such as the game sometimes not opening, taking a long time to load, and the map or war graphics having glitches. However, the fact that the developers of the game are aware of and fast to act on these issues suggests that these problems will be resolved in a short time.
Should I Play V Rising?
Well, this is for you to decide after reading this review. However, to sum it up, if a solid story is not necessary for you, if you enjoy survival games and have a special interest in vampires, you can find everything you are looking for in V Rising. It seems that we are going to talk about V Rising for a while and its popularity is not gonna go anywhere any soon. If you want not to miss the train, V Rising deserves a chance.
