The Looker Review
I have great news for those who loved The Witness but would like to combine it with the Postal type of humor. The Looker is what you are looking for and it is completely free! If you want to learn more about this oddly-familiar game, you are in the right place. Let's get started with The Looker game review.
- The humor is on point
- Nearly 2 hours of content
- Free to play
- Might get repetitive
- Does not make much sense if you haven't played The Witness
Is The Looker Similar to The Witness?
Well, if you haven’t been able to tell by the names… yes, it is. The whole game is a parody of The Witness and a good one at that as well. This game takes the best parts of The Witness from drawing lines or solving puzzles to lateral thinking and relaxing visuals while removing everything that you hated, which is most likely Jonathan Blow. This means that if you liked The Witness, you will enjoy The Looker. But if you hated The Witness, you will enjoy The Looker too.
Gameplay
The puzzles are complex and require out-of-the-box thinking at all times. If you are familiar with puzzle-solving games, it would be much easier to be able to comprehend the complexities of the puzzles. Although I enjoy puzzles that don't require me to search for a guide, some puzzles here left me in need of guidance. It is also a shame that you have to do the same puzzles over and over again until you get it right because in the end, you might just get bored. Although these parts can get a bit annoying, the humor makes up for it.
Is The Looker Worth Playing?
The Looker is free, short, and it's great fun. I would especially highly recommend it if you've ever played The Witness. If you haven’t played it or don’t have the humor that matches The Looker’s, then it might easily get really boring for you.
The game has a great sense of humor overall, but I have to admit that not all jokes are successful. Could it be cleaner, more polished, with better voice acting and longer gameplay? Sure. But as it is, The Looker is a game that gives you 60-90 minutes worth of fun and challenge.
