StarCraft 2 Review
When I said it was played in the professional arena, I was being overly serious. There are even rumors circulating that Korean pro gamers can beat the mouse clicks with a single hand.
- Enjoyable story mode
- Well-done multiplayer mode
- Legendary RTS game
- Difficult for new players
- The graphics can be improved
Putting these rumors aside, it can be considered a very high-quality multiplayer game that I have played for a long time. However, if we just call it a multiplayer game, it would be absolutely unfair to the story mode. It also has a beautifully written story mode, which is really enjoyable for the year it came out. If you are a player familiar with such games, you will understand what is going on as you open the game, but I think it is much more difficult to play than to understand. The worst part of our game is that you, unfortunately, have to be online even while playing the story mode.
Story Mode
In story mode, you command excellent Terran units. The units that shoot rockets from their hands and look like robots may really be my favorite units in the game. Almost all the RTS games I've played so far have always followed the same formula. The story mode of all of them had very simple gameplay. This formula, on the other hand, has a gameplay that is incredibly simple to imagine and execute.
Open the game, capture the other castle, protect your own, find resources from the whole map, improve your technology and soldiers, and capture the opposite castle. This is a very classic RTS story mode gameplay. If you have played RTS games before, you will definitely understand what I mean.
A Different RTS Experience
This game, on the other hand, has brought a different perspective to RTS story modes. There are 27 different and creative tasks that you have to do throughout the story, each lasting an average of half an hour. You are asked to protect a colony from invasion in the first place. It won't be that easy with hundreds of Zerg-infected humans and infantry against you. The sun is constantly rising and setting, and this is really a perfectly worked mechanic for those years. Starcraft's story mode is not only creative but also provides hours of incredible fun. If you are tired of classic RTS stories, this game is for you.
Multiplayer
Let's come to the fashion that I absolutely cannot wear. If you didn't start playing in 2010 or are not an RTS expert, I really don't recommend playing it. Even though most players show imbalances as the reason for this, I think that's not the case.
On the contrary, I think it's a well-balanced game. The reason why I say don't be fooled by this mode is that the players who play it really play with their eyes closed. They have memorized every second of the game so much that they know not only what they are doing but also what you are doing. I'm very serious about this subject. They play by heart so much that they know by heart where you will be and with which units you will be. They all know which units you push at what minute and in which direction you push them. And against those players, unfortunately, you definitely don't have a chance.
Is StarCraft 2 Worth Playing?
Apart from that, the games are very difficult and long. Even when you win, you ask yourself if you really won. The mental effort is really too much. You may even need to plan as much as in any other RTS game. You always have to think not one, but two steps ahead. This being the case, if you win, you don't want to enter one more hand and say "I'm down." Because I think each hand takes a piece of your soul away.
