Horizon Zero Dawn Review
Horizon, which is a really successful game in which Aloy, who wants to learn what happened to her world and who her mother is, fights both primitive tribes and robotic animals in an eye-catching open world with its graphics, is an enjoyable game for players in many respects.
- Open world with amazing graphics
- Robotic animals
- Bow and arrow
- Variety of action
- Not very creative open world missions
- Occasional repetition of side quests
Is Horizon a Really Nice Game
I kept asking myself that question when I was playing Horizon. And when I finished the game, I found the answer to this question. I think Horizon is a beautiful game, but it's not a game that can make its name among legends. I think the game starts very slowly and it takes time to find its rhythm. Excluded by primitive tribes because his mother is unknown, Aloy's adventure begins to delight the players after the four hours in the game.
Our game is set in the distant future. People are disconnected from technology and live in primitive tribes. The game throws you right into the middle of an unknown. Your character has been shunned by all tribes because it is not known who her mother is. Even if you saved their lives, you're putting your best foot forward to get in the way of people who don't sympathize with you. And in doing so, you're trying to find out what happened to your world. There are all kinds of robotic animals roaming the open world. These animals have very advanced technology, but you are still fighting with a bow and arrow. I wonder what happened to your world and where are you at with this story?
Robotic enemies are really enjoyable throughout the game. There are many types of enemies and they all have different characteristics. All of them have their own unique appearance, size and behavior. Being so diverse is a feature that increases the diversity of action. Each robot has its own weak spot. It also has weak features that allow us to deal more damage to these weak points. For example, some of our enemies take more damage from firearms, while others take enough damage from even our normal attacks.
Let's come to the bad side of robotic enemies being beautiful. Getting into action with human enemies is incredibly boring. After a sweaty battle with two tank-sized robots, getting into action with people shooting arrows at you is definitely not enjoyable. There are also wars that people force, some of them even use advanced weapons, but they still do not give pleasure. In the sequel to the series, I hope they add a little more depth to the human battles.
Some Open World Problems
I'm a player who can't warm up to open world games. Due to the high game prices, many companies are now making open world games. Companies, I am calling out to you, if you are not going to do quality and really purposeful side missions like Red Dead Redemption 2, please give up making open world games. Horizon sometimes feels like the open world was just put in because it increases gameplay time. Side missions are boring. I'm beyond the fact that it's boring and it gets repetitive all the time. While playing the game for two hours, you are doing the same task three times.
This is not fun. It doesn't give me pleasure when you show me around to carry or find things. Let's kill the valiant, but let's give him his due. Although I think Horizon's open world is bad, there are things it does well. The views are beautiful. The texture quality is great. Traveling across mountains and slopes on a robot gives people peace of mind. You have a pleasant stroll with beautiful music, but this pleasure does not last long. You ask why? Because you are dying. You start your journey by saying, "How beautiful is the view of that region, let me go and see it". You turn your face to the right and left, while you say "I'm in love with the fact that how beautiful this game is", before you can finish your words, a dragon comes and knocks you out with one hit.
I understand you want to give me freedom, but I would appreciate it if you could limit me a little Horizon. You say go and travel as you want, but you kill while you travel. The most boring part of the open world for me is the loot system. Actually, I'm a player who likes to loot. As a fan of the old God of War games set in Greek mythology, I love to search around for chests and I love to do it, but it is really boring to constantly collect daisies from the ground for development. I don't think Horizon's loot system has worked and needs to be improved.
Good but Not Legend
In conclusion, I can say that it is a new and enjoyable experience for Horizon. It is a quality production with beautiful views, a peaceful ride on a robot, and a fun action in robot fights. Even if its open world isn't enough, the variety of action keeps the game afloat. As a Legolas fan, I can write the name of Horizon in the first three places in my list of games where the use of bows and arrows is the most enjoyable among the games I play. The story is above average but below most PlayStation exclusives. If you have time, I would like you to give this game a chance before the second game of the series comes out to PC. And yes, I think it will also be released for PC sometime in the future.
