God of War Ragnarök Story

God of War Ragnarök Story

The main character of the God of War series, Kratos, slaughtered all the Greek gods to avenge his wife in the first trilogy.

Although Kratos slaughtered a god every time, he slaughtered a god, he killed all the Greek gods up to Zeus without giving up on his path. God of War, which takes place years after these events, tells the players about a journey that Kratos and his son took after the death of his new wife. During the journey, Kratos and his son become closer, meet Norse mythology, and discover new gods and titans. You will even encounter the snake that eats worlds, which has an important place in Norse mythology in this series. In the final scene of the first game, Kratos learns that his son is a half-god and half-titan. The story ends here and we, as players, look forward to the continuation of the story.

Finally, the GoW series continues with its second game, God of War Ragnarök, and we, as players, get to know the rest of the story. God of War Ragnarök has managed to offer players a satisfying gameplay experience, legendary boss battles, and an unforgettable story. God of War Ragnarök The Beginning of the Story

Atreus, who welcomed us as a child in the first game, has entered puberty in this game; his voice has deepened, and he has improved his hunting skills. The story of God of War: Ragnarök takes place 3 years after the previous game. While Kratos is carving the teeth of a creature he killed in a cave, Atreus brings a deer he hunted to the cave. Atreus goes outside to prepare the sledge, and Kratos carries the deer his son brought in his arms. After going outside, we notice that everywhere is covered in snow. After Kratos kills Baldur, the eternal winter, the beginning of the Norse apocalypse known as Ragnarök, has begun. As Kratos approaches the sledge, he realizes that Atreus is hiding something, but he doesn't care much.

After Kratos and Atreus start their journey with the wolf sledge, they see a silhouette on the road, as the duo approaches the silhouette, we realize that it is Freya and that she is following Kratos and Atreus to avenge her son. However, Kratos, stating that he has killed enough gods and does not want to kill any more, refuses to attack Freya. Taking this opportunity, Freya starts attacking Kratos with all her power, ambition, and anger. Kratos accepts all the blows and manages to push Freya away, and then he and his son return home. Another surprise awaits us players at home, the third wolf on the verge of death, Fenrir. (Fenrir is the name of the giant wolf who brings doomsday, the son of Loki and the female giant Angrboda in Norse mythology). After Fenrir dies, light beams come out of his body and rise towards the sky. Kratos, who knows education and war as the only methods to suppress his sadness, suggests training to ease his son's sadness. However, Atreus is waiting for the answer to a question more important than training, all the details about him being Loki.

Kratos' Dream

After Atreus tells his father to leave him alone, Kratos lies down in his bed to sleep. Although he sees his wife Faye in his dream, we still do not see a happy picture. Faye says that time is running out and Kratos suddenly wakes up and goes into battle mode. However, he cannot see his son inside the house and takes Mimir and goes to look for his son. After seeing a dead bear on the road, the god killer, intelligent and reflexively strong Kratos, who continues to search for his son, is ambushed by a bear, yes, a bear. A wild fight begins between the bear and Kratos, and although Kratos takes a few big blows, he manages to catch the bear's head. Just as Kratos is about to kill the bear, magic sparks start coming out of the bear and the bear transforms into his son Atreus.

Although Atreus has the shapeshifting power of Loki, a Norse god, he cannot control it and does not remember what he did during the transformation. Kratos, on the other hand, takes on the role of a full father and tells his son that he needs more training. After Kratos and his son return home, they fall asleep on a stormy night.

Thor and Odin

After seeing a wall drawing depicting his death in the previous game, Kratos is certain that Thor and Odin will try to kill him and that he will die one day. For this reason, Kratos constantly trains his son Atreus to make him stronger and more self-sufficient when he is alone.

When Kratos and Atreus wake up, they encounter an unexpected guest at their door. The guest at the door is Thor, whom we all know. Thor has come to visit Kratos not for war, but to talk and make peace. The weapons are placed on the table, and a possible war situation is prevented. While Thor and Kratos are talking, the doorbell rings again, and this time, we encounter an unexpected guest: Odin.

Odin enters, approaches the table, pulls up a chair, and tries to make a deal with Kratos, the god of war. Although Odin is angry that Baldur died, he avoids starting a war and unnecessary deaths. According to Odin's conditions, Kratos will not make any attacks, will live calmly, and Atreus will stop looking for Tyr. Kratos, who slowly learns the secret that Atreus is hiding at the beginning of the story, analyses the situation with his superior combat and strategy skills and gets angry at Odin and Thor who are aggressive towards his son and can only say "No".

Thor and Odin, who do not know that Kratos is more dangerous the fewer words he speaks, do not like this answer, and a war begins between the three. Although Kratos suffers during the war, he finally manages to stand up to Thor and end the war. Kratos, who returns home in a hurry and worries about his son Atreus, learns that his son has been invited to Asgard by Odin.

Atreus’ Quest for Tyr

After Kratos returns home and is relieved to see that his son is unharmed, he asks him why he is looking for Tyr. According to Odin, Tyr is dead, and this is the beginning of Ragnarök. Atreus says that Tyr is a friend of the Titans, that he is also a Titan, and that he can get information from him. Although we understand how close Atreus and Kratos have become as father and son and that they are talking sincerely in this section, we understand much better how much Kratos loves his son Atreus in the next scene. After Atreus tells his father that he found new drawings while looking for Tyr, Kratos takes the Chaos Swords without hesitation and says, "Show me."

After Atreus takes his father Kratos to new drawings, the two see Tyr as a commander in the war against Asgard. After Atreus tells his father and Mimir about a prophecy they discovered, Mimir tells him that this prophecy is the dwarf realm of Svartalfheim. Kratos and his son Atreus set out on a journey to the dwarf realms to discover this prophecy and find Tyr.

At the beginning of God of War Ragnarök, the duo's journey and their purpose are told in a narrative. You can play God of War Ragnarök on PC to follow their story and discover the stories of other characters by exploring side quests in the realms!
