Diablo 3 Story and Acts
Our game takes place partly long after the previous events, even though it is a continuation of the previous game. It has been 20 years since what happened in Diablo 2. Our game takes place in the world of Sanctuary. Deckar Kain and his team are researching ancient texts about an ominous prophecy with Leah. Meanwhile, a mysterious star falls from the sky into the Tristram Cathedral, where they do their research. The falling star creates a huge crater gap and Deckard Cain goes missing.
Diablo 3 Lore & Acts
Act I
Here we see our main character in this game for the first time. Our character, named Nephalem, goes to the town of New Tristram to investigate the falling star. His side goal is to find and save Cain. Leah takes our main character to the cathedral. We rescue Cain and look for a way to reach the falling star. After learning that the only way to do this is to kill the Skeleton King, we defeat him in a relentless battle. When we reach the star, we see a stranger here. Along with it is a sword divided into three parts.
We get the first two pieces right away, but Maghda, the leader of the Dark Council, reaches the last piece before we do. Leah forces Cain to repair the sword, but Maghda forces him to stop. Leah then slaughters the cultists. As a result, Maghda attacks Cain and forces him to flee. Cain repairs the sword and returns it to us. We return it to the stranger in order to preserve his memories. After receiving the sword, we recall his alien memories and learn that he is Archangel Tyrael, an Aspect of Justice. He says that the angels came to warn people not to want to protect them from the forces of Hell. In this, he decides to become mortal and leaves the deity.
Act II
We travel to the city of Caldeum with Leah and Tyrael, where we leave the group to track down Maghda. Belial's demons are trapped in Khasim and have taken the place of the guards. We rescue them, retake the outpost, and gain access to Alcarnus. Meanwhile, Leah has been captured by the imperial guards and we must rescue her. We save him and run into the sewers.
Together, we reach Leah's mother, Adria. Adria tells us the Black Soulstone is the only way to stop the forces of Hell. This stone has the power to trap the souls of seven hell lords. However, Kulle's head was cut off and imprisoned before he could complete the stone. So we have to find it first. For the stone, we resurrect its ghost, but it must be whole again to help us. We brought it back to life. The revived Kulle turns out to be a traitor, and we have to kill him. Returning to the Caldeum, we see that it is occupied and we go to save the palace. After the battle, we learn that Belial took the form of the Emperor, and we defeat him and imprison him in the Black Soulstone.
Act III
We will all set out for Bastion's Castle. We see that the castle is occupied by Azmodan's soldiers. On top of that, we entered the castle, where we killed Ghom by destroying the troops. In the meantime, we head towards Mount Arreat and destroy Azmodan's siege weapons. Once we reach the inner core of Arreat, we fight Azmodan and defeat him. We bury his spirit in stone. On the way back, we learn that Adria has served Diablo from the very beginning. Adria takes the stone from us and uses it to resurrect Diablo. With all souls within him, Diablo comes, stronger than ever, and attacks the High Heaven.
Act IV
We go to High Heaven with Tyrael. Imperius blames us, causing Tyrael to despair. But we still want to fight. Meanwhile, we meet Ithrael, and she gives us a very important task. Our mission is to find and save Auriel. This is very important as he is the image of hope. We rescued him and we are ready to fight with all our might again. We close the Hell rifts and return to Tyrael. We managed to defeat the Diablo at the very end of the war. The stone is still standing and continues to trap the souls. At the end of our game, Tyrael chooses to remain mortal to form a lasting alliance between humans and angels.
