Elden Ring Starting Classes
The class you choose determines your Stats, Equipment, which can be upgraded as you play the game. We were able to see the potential class list in Elden Ring's closed network testing. Five new classes were introduced, which gave us an idea of what we can expect. It is possible that this Elden Ring class listing is incomplete, as other FromSoftware games typically have approximately twice the number of classes when the complete edition is released.
Classes in Elden Ring
Warrior
Warrior class starts with 13 Endurance and 15 Dexterity. This is designed for those who prefer faster-paced combat. Warrior allows players to use short swords, long katanas, or other skill-based weapons early on in their game.
The class includes a nomad’s blue cloth armour, an excellent buckler shield for parrying, as well as dual scimitars that can be used to increase your attack power. A buckler is available for parrying, and you can also get decently light armour. Warriors prefer melee and weapon skills to magic.
Enchanted Knight
Next class is Enchanted Knight. As you can guess from the name, it offers a combination of magic and strength. This class provides the highest base intelligence with 16 INT; players can cast some of Elden Ring's strongest sorceries at the beginning of the playthrough. They also have a handy increase in magic attack and defense.
Elden Ring Enchanted Knight has a strong shield, detailed armor in silver, and a trusted winged spear. It also has two powerful sorceries, the Glintstone pebble projectile, and the Carian Piercer lance-attack. This class is a great starting class for spell-swordsmen.
Prophet
Although Elden Ring Prophet looks simple with a wooden club and an old armor set, it is packed with powerful incantations. The Heal can be used to turn FP into HP and the Beast Claw can be used to destroy groups of enemies. Prophet has a lot of FP, and high Faith stat.
For players who wish to avoid enemies, Prophet class can make incantation spells possible with its emphasis on the faith attribute. The network test revealed some of the most impressive spells in FromSoftware games, with the Dragonfire, flame-spouting Dragonfire being our favourite.
Champion
Champion class is sort of Elden Ring's barbarian. It is equipped with a battle knife, a lightweight shield and a catalyst to use the Dragonfire pyromancy.
There is a slight overlap between Champion and Prophet classes, as both can cast incantation spells. However, players will find it easier to deal with more aggressive enemies who have higher strength and vigor stats. This gives people who prefer a more rugged, rustic look an alternative to more fashionable clothes from the rest of the classes.
Bloody Wolf
Bloody Wolf is one of the best PvP class in Elden Ring. With its best melee stats, a bastard-sword with good range, and solid armour, it's one of our favourite Elden Ring classes.
Bloody Wolf will be a popular choice for long-time Dark Souls players with its melee-focused and high strength that lets you use heavier armours, weapons, and even shields. Although you might be limited in ranged options, there are some weapon skills that can help. You can't go wrong when you have Bloody Wolf as your starting weapon is the Bastard Sword. It also comes with some of our favourite armour pieces.
It is less effective if you are looking to insert spells into your inventory. However, Bloody Wolf offers a great range of starting stats in all aspects of close combat.
Vagabond
Vagabond Class is able to dive deep into physical combat with devastating strength backed by a high health pool, they'll be able to equip most armor sets and weapons easily. But magic spells are not this class' strong suit as it has a relatively low FP pool.
Hero
Hero class utilizes strength to wield giant weapons to smash everything that comes in way, preferring brute force to any sort of defensive armor. If you love melee fights, this is your class. But this class has also lower FP when compared to other classes. So be careful when using magic spells.
Prisoner
Prisoner class starts with high Intelligence and Dexterity. It has a Greatsword, Pole and a shield. Also has medium physical stats.
Bandit
Bandit class starts with high Arcane and Dexterity stats. This class has a Dagger, Parrying Shield, a bow and arrows at the beginning. It looks really agile and fast. But might be weak to heavy attacks.
Astrologer
Astrologer starts with high Intelligence and Mind, resulting in a huge FP bonus and capability of using some powerful magic spells right off the bat. Astrologer has a Staff, Sword and a small shield.
Samurai
You're a Sekiro fan? You might want to check this class. It starts with high Dexterity and medium STR, END and Vigor. It's a balanced class for those who want some agility while fighting. Contrary to its name, it uses a Greatsword, a shield, bow and arrows.
Confessor
Confessor has a high Faith and medium physical stats. Uses Broadsword, Kite Shield and Finger Seal.
Wretch
Wretch is comparable to Deprived class in the Dark Souls games. It starts level 1 with all stats at 10. If you want a challenge, this is your class.
