Beginning of the Story
Basim is a young street thief who lives in the city of Anbar during the reign of the Abbasid Caliphate and is constantly hunted by jinni. Basim gets help from his friend named Nehal to get rid of the demons and the effects of nightmares. Nehal tries to explain Basim's nightmares and understand why the demons are haunting him.
In addition to being haunted by demons, Basim desires to join a special sect and earn money by working for them. For this reason, he completes contracts for them and aims to join the "Hidden Ones" cult by completing the given tasks.
Basim's last mission is to enter a ship in the harbour and steal a ledger containing secret information. During this mission, we hear the children in the town talking about the soldiers in the port and wanting to steal swords, helmets, and spears from the soldiers. After going to the harbour and stealing the ledger, Basim comes to Dervis' place and in the meantime encounters a member of the Hidden Ones.
After taking the ledger from Basim, Dervis delivers it to Roshan, one of the Hidden Ones. Basim tells Roshan that he wants to join the Hidden Ones. Roshan says, "Two of my men have already died for this cause, you are not suitable for this job." Basim, whose brazenness knows no bounds, said, "Then you have two openings, take me." Roshan continues her way, ignoring what Basim says.
While Basim and Nehal take the award and continue walking, and talking, one of the children, who was thinking of stealing from the soldiers, tries to steal Basim's money, but is caught. While Basim is chatting with the child, the child mentions a black chest guarded by soldiers at the harbour. After hearing this, Basim takes action to steal the black chest.
Black Chest and Disc-Shaped Artefact
Basim and Nehal choose nighttime to steal the chest guarded by the soldiers. The duo takes action to steal the chest while the masked men and the merchant are talking in the room where the black chest is carried. When Basim touches the disk-shaped artefact, he begins to see an image. Meanwhile, the merchant bursts into the room, takes the disk from Basim's hand and begins to strangle Basim. Then, Nehal saves Basim by stabbing the merchant's throat. The two separates while escaping the place and Basim returns home.
After falling asleep in his house, Basim wakes up to Roshan's voice explaining to him what is happening. Roshan invites Basim to Hidden Ones and leaves the house. When Basim goes out of his house, he sees that all the people he knows except Nehal have been killed. He blames Nehal, who saved his life.
While Basim is trying to escape with the boat mentioned by Roshan, he is caught by two soldiers. After confirming that Basim is the wanted criminal, the soldiers draw their swords to kill him. Before the soldiers kill Basim, Roshan kills both soldiers. He leaves the city with the help of Roshan, who is saved again by others and proves his uselessness.
Training Over the Years
Under the wing of Roshan, Basim accepts assassination training for several years and experiences various tests. These tests include climbing, using weapons, and leaping of faith. After all these tests, he moves towards his first mission with Roshan.
